This chapter describes the pin assignments for the following LAN interfaces:
Ethernet AUI  
Token Ring UTP  
Token Ring STP  

 

Ethernet AUI

For information on Ethernet testing 

AUI cables have a D-type 15 pin connector. Pin assignments are as follows:

Pin 1 Control In circuit Shield
Pin 2 Control In circuit A
Pin 3 Data Out circuit A
Pin 4 Data In circuit Shield
Pin 5 Data In circuit A
Pin 6 Voltage Common
Pin 9 Control In circuit B
Pin 10 Data Out circuit B
Pin 11 Data Out circuit Shield
Pin 12 Data In circuit B
Pin 13 Voltage Plus
Pin 14 Voltage Shield
Pins 7, 8 and 15 are not used.

 

Token Ring

UTP

UTP Token Ring cables have an RJ45 connector with pin assignments as follows:

Pin 3 Transmit 1
Pin 4 Receive 2
Pin 5 Receive 1
Pin 6 Transmit 2

STP

STP Token Ring cables have a 9-pin D-type connector with pin assignments as follows:

Pin 1 Receive 1
Pin 5 Transmit 1
Pin 6 Receive 2
Pin 9 Transmit 2
Pins 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8 are not used.
